about

Río Frío flows between the southern-most part of Nicaragua and limits with Costa Rica. There is think tropical swamplands and primary rainforest, home to numerous bird species, frogs, insects and mammals. I spotted the three types of monkeys that live in Nicaragua: Congo, Spider Monkey and White Face monkey. Río Frío nurtures the Great Lake of Nicaragua, also known as Cocibolca.

Wild Sounds of Nicaragua is a collection of recordings from 6 bio-reserves (up to date and counting) in Nicaragua, a land where deforestation and depletion of water and natural resources are at an escalating rhythm. I have ventured deep into rainforests, rivers, volcanic arenas and other wild land to record endless hours of raw wild sounds. My studies involve recording many hours of sounds in a specified area and analyzing the spectrum that the sound frequencies cover. I use a digital spectrometer to identify the cyclical natures of the sounds. The visual nature of the spectrometer creates digital imprints of the sounds. This is a way to archive and to release to the world the unique soundscape of a place that holds the last bits of tropical paradise, to reveal the importance of diversity, to divulge the significance of our relationship to our mother Planet and to sustain dialogue with other nations about the identity of our natural world.

Please feel free to stream, listen, download, enjoy and share with as many people as possible. With your donation, i will be able to continue documenting a collection of wild soundscapes of the most recondite and valuable parts of our planet and to continue building upon a permanent permaculture / artist residency on the Pacific Coast of León, Nicaragua, El Velero where we give education to the community and we sustain the vision of spreading awareness of our environment.
